La repr\u00e9sentante du bureau du Fonds des Nations unies pour l’enfance (UNICEF) en Alg\u00e9rie, Souraya Hassan, a salu\u00e9 samedi \u00e0 Alger, les r\u00e9alisations de l’Alg\u00e9rie en mati\u00e8re de promotion et de protection de l’enfant pour lui assurer l’acc\u00e8s \u00e0 l’\u00e9ducation, \u00e0 la sant\u00e9 et \u00e0 la protection sociale.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Intervenant lors d’une rencontre \u00e0 l’occasion de la c\u00e9l\u00e9bration de la Journ\u00e9e mondiale contre le travail des enfants (12 juin de chaque ann\u00e9e), Mme Hassan a salu\u00e9 “les progr\u00e8s et les r\u00e9alisations de l’Alg\u00e9rie en mati\u00e8re de promotion et de protection de l’enfance pour assurer aux enfants alg\u00e9riens l’acc\u00e8s \u00e0 une \u00e9ducation de qualit\u00e9, \u00e0 la sant\u00e9 et \u00e0 la protection sociale”.<\/p>\n

Elle a \u00e9galement mis en avant “l’engagement continu du gouvernement alg\u00e9rien qui consacre au rang de priorit\u00e9 strat\u00e9gique la pr\u00e9vention et la lutte contre le travail des enfants dans son programme d’action”, ainsi que ses “engagements vis-\u00e0-vis des instruments internationaux, notamment la convention relative aux droits de l’enfant et ses protocoles”.<\/p>\n

Le repr\u00e9sentante de l’Unicef a aussi salu\u00e9 “l’engagement de l’Alg\u00e9rie pour la r\u00e9alisation des Objectif de d\u00e9veloppement durable (ODD) \u00e0 l’horizon 2030 et, notamment la cible 8.7 portant sur l’\u00e9limination du travail des enfants sous toutes ses formes d’ici \u00e0 2025 et l’\u00e9radication du travail forc\u00e9”, relevant que “ces efforts expliquent sans doute la pr\u00e9valence tr\u00e8s faible du travail des enfants en Alg\u00e9rie”.<\/p>\n

A l’\u00e9chelle mondiale, Mme Hassan a indiqu\u00e9 que “160 millions d’enfants sont encore astreints au travail des enfants”, ce qui repr\u00e9sente pr\u00e8s de 1 enfant sur 10 dans le monde”.<\/p>\n

Elle a indiqu\u00e9 que le travail des enfants est toujours associ\u00e9 \u00e0 la non scolarisation, pr\u00e9cisant qu'”une grande partie des enfants qui travaillent dans le monde sont exclus de l’\u00e9cole, alors qu’ils se situent dans la tranche d’\u00e2ge de la scolarit\u00e9 obligatoire”.<\/p>\n

“Plus d’un quart des enfants \u00e2g\u00e9s de 5 \u00e0 11 ans et plus d’un tiers des enfants \u00e2g\u00e9s de 12 \u00e0 14 ans qui travaillent ne sont pas scolaris\u00e9s”, a-t-elle fait savoir, mettant l’accent sur l'”imp\u00e9ratif de rester engag\u00e9 pour que les mesures et syst\u00e8mes de pr\u00e9vention fonctionnent toujours plus efficacement et pour qu’aucun enfant ne soit laiss\u00e9 pour compte”.<\/p>\n
