Il continue sa scolarit\u00e9 en France, o\u00f9 il entreprend des \u00e9tudes en agriculture et en\u00a0droit.<\/p>\n<p>A partir de la Tunisie, il rejoint en 1958 les rangs des combattants pour l\u2019ind\u00e9pendance de l\u2019Alg\u00e9rie et\u00a0travaille pour le gouvernement provisoire en exil. C\u2019est alors dans le cadre de la lutte r\u00e9volutionnaire\u00a0que sa carri\u00e8re cin\u00e9matographique d\u00e9bute et il int\u00e8gre en 1959 l\u2019Acad\u00e9mie du film de Prague (Filmov\u00e1 a\u00a0televizn\u00ed fakulta, FAMU), une \u00e9cole sup\u00e9rieure de cin\u00e9ma, fond\u00e9e apr\u00e8s la fin de la Seconde Guerre\u00a0mondiale.<\/p>\n<p>Il rejoint les Studios Barrandov, principaux studios de cin\u00e9ma tch\u00e8que, puis prend part en 1960 au\u00a0Service Cin\u00e9ma G.P.R.A., un programme mis en place par le gouvernement provisoire avec pour objectif\u00a0de produire et de diffuser du contenu cin\u00e9matographique qui inclue des n\u00e9gatifs de films tourn\u00e9s dans\u00a0les maquis.<\/p>\n<p>Avec Service Cin\u00e9ma, Mohammed Lakhdar-Hamina r\u00e9alise entre 1960 et 1962 les films\u00a0<em>Djazairouna<\/em>\u00a0(r\u00e9alis\u00e9 aux c\u00f4t\u00e9s du Docteur Chaulet, de Djamel Chanderli) qui explore l\u2019Alg\u00e9rie durant la colonisation\u00a0et les objectifs du combat nationaliste,\u00a0<em>Yasmina<\/em>\u00a0(r\u00e9alis\u00e9 avec Djamel Chanderli) qui raconte l\u2019histoire\u00a0d\u2019une jeune r\u00e9fugi\u00e9e qui doit fuir son village suite \u00e0 sa destruction,\u00a0<em>La voix du peuple<\/em>\u00a0(aussi r\u00e9alis\u00e9 avec\u00a0Djamel Chanderli) et\u00a0<em>Les fusils de la libert\u00e9<\/em>\u00a0(r\u00e9alis\u00e9 avec Djamel Chanderli, avec un sc\u00e9nario de Serge\u00a0Michel).<\/p>\n<p>Suite \u00e0 l\u2019ind\u00e9pendance du pays en 1962, l\u2019artiste retourne en Alg\u00e9rie, o\u00f9 il fonde avec d\u2019anciens\u00a0collaborateurs l\u2019Office des actualit\u00e9s alg\u00e9riennes, un bureau dont il sera le directeur de 1963 jusqu\u2019\u00e0 la\u00a0dissolution de l\u2019organisation en 1974. Ce cin\u00e9ma suit alors de pr\u00e8s\u00a0l\u2019\u00e9volution r\u00e9cente du pays, de la lutte pour l\u2019ind\u00e9pendance \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9dification de l\u2019\u00c9tat et de l\u2019identit\u00e9\u00a0nationale postcoloniale, avec des id\u00e9aux profond\u00e9ment anti-imp\u00e9rialistes.<\/p>\n<p>Ainsi, son premier long m\u00e9trage,\u00a0<em>Le vent des Aur\u00e8s<\/em>, qui obtient le Prix de la premi\u00e8re \u0153uvre du festival\u00a0de Cannes et le Grand prix du Festival international du film de Moscou en 1967, dresse le portrait d\u2019une\u00a0femme alg\u00e9rienne \u00e0 la recherche de son fils emprisonn\u00e9 durant la guerre pour l\u2019ind\u00e9pendance.
