Ce natif de\u00a0Madaure\u00a0 (<strong>Mdaourouch\u00a0dans l\u2019actuelle Souk\u00a0Ahras, Alg\u00e9rie<\/strong>), issu d\u2019une famille ais\u00e9e, est consid\u00e9r\u00e9 comme une personne singuli\u00e8re et attachante. Tel un chercheur durant son \u00e9poque (IIe\u00a0si\u00e8cle), il s\u2019int\u00e9resse \u00e0 la philosophie, \u00e0 la religion, aux sciences et \u00e0 la magie.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #003366\">Pour l\u2019universitaire\u00a0Pierre\u00a0Grimal, Apul\u00e9e (ou\u00a0Afulay\u00a0en berbere\u202f?) \u00ab\u202fse\u00a0fit initier \u00e0 tous les cultes, plus ou moins secrets, qui abondaient alors dans l\u2019Orient m\u00e9diterran\u00e9en : myst\u00e8res d\u2019Eleusis, de Mithra, d\u2019Isis, culte des\u00a0Cabires\u00a0\u00e0 Samothrace, et mille autres encore, d\u2019une moindre c\u00e9l\u00e9brit\u00e9. Nord africain\u00a0dans son identit\u00e9, il a \u00e9crit en latin. Pour l\u2019universitaire Mourad\u00a0Yelles, la diversit\u00e9 d\u2019Apul\u00e9e, l\u2019esth\u00e9tique m\u00eame de sa litt\u00e9rature, dans la cr\u00e9ation de son roman<b><i>\u00a0<\/i><\/b><i>L\u2019\u00c2ne d\u2019or<\/i>, est un bel exemple de m\u00e9tissage, non pas celui des races humaines mais des langues et des cultures. Nous pourrions effectivement comparer cet enfant de Numidie \u00e0 ceux qui, durant la colonisation fran\u00e7aise, ont publi\u00e9 dans la langue de l\u2019occupant. Cette dimension n\u2019a s\u00fbrement pas affect\u00e9 son appartenance \u00e0 une culture amazighe.\u00a0\u00ab Apul\u00e9e comprend au moins tamazight\u202f\u00bb, d\u2019apr\u00e8s le docteur\u00a0Emmanuel\u00a0Plantade. Et ses r\u00e9f\u00e9rences en mati\u00e8re d\u2019\u00e9criture rel\u00e8vent forc\u00e9ment de l\u2019amazighit\u00e9, entre autres.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #003366\">Son \u0153uvre, en particulier\u00a0<i>M\u00e9tamorphoses\u00a0<\/i>\u202fou \u202f<i>L\u2019\u00c2ne d\u2019or<\/i>, se caract\u00e9rise par une inter-culturalit\u00e9 inh\u00e9rente \u00e0 la vie urbaine en Numidie et en M\u00e9diterran\u00e9e. Elle v\u00e9hicule, au jour d\u2019aujourd\u2019hui, un cachet influent sur des auteurs en litt\u00e9rature et en dramaturgie th\u00e9\u00e2trale. Ce livre est traduit en arabe par l\u2019\u00e9crivain\u00a0Abou\u00a0La\u00efd\u00a0Doudou (1934-2004), la biographie de son signataire sera adapt\u00e9e en pi\u00e8ce th\u00e9\u00e2trale (\u00e9criture\u00a0de\u00a0Ahmed\u00a0Hamdi\u00a0et mise en sc\u00e8ne\u00a0de\u00a0Bouzid\u00a0Chawki), en 2007.
