Algeria surpassed the 100 gold-medal mark on the final day of competition as they delighted the home fans again at the Pan Arab Games.
The Algerian team have been dominant from start to finish, winning more than 200 medals across multiple sports.
Among those include cycling where Algeria’s men backed up the success of the women yesterday by winning team and individual gold medals.
Hamza Yacine came out on top in the men’s individual road race competition after clocking a winning time of 2hr 56min 22sec.
It was enough to edge Abdulla Jasim Al-Ali of the United Arab Emirates, while Algeria’s Youcef Reguigui came third.
There was joy and despair for Algeria in volleyball as the women defeated Tunisia in straight sets to strike gold before the men finished runner-up to Libya.
Egypt enjoyed weightlifting success with two golds each for Shimaa Ali and Rahma Elsayed.
Elsayed won both the snatch and clean jerk titles in the women’s 81 kilogram division, while Ali claimed snatch and clean jerk golds in the women’s over-81kg category.
Syria’s Man Assad clinched men’s over-102kg snatch and clean jerk golds, while Iraq’s Qasim Hasan Abdulhussein Al-Lami sealed the men’s 102kg snatch title, with the clean jerk crown going to Algeria’s Aymen Touairi.
While Algeria topped the overall standings, Tunisia placed second with more than 100 medals and Morocco, Bahrain and Jordan also finished in the top five.
